My honest opinion to that question is none of them if I had to be absolutely honest. 

 

However, this economy has forced people to try anything and everything to make a few extra dollars, so here we are discussing these apps.

I have personally delivered food for Uber Eats for months and it was one of the most miserable, infuriating, and time wasting experiences in my working history.  My experience will not be your experience, but there are 3 basic principles that will continue to be self-evident if you do use these apps:

​

1) These companies will pay the absolute lowest fare of less than $1 per mile under most scenarios.

​

2) Most customers will not tip.

​

3) These Gig companies will cut you for anything reason whatsoever no matter how loyal and hard working you are for them.

The 3 main types of Gig Service Apps

Uber/Lyft - Taxi service

You need a newer car with these apps, you have to interact with people in your car for every ride, but this is a solid option if you are smart and pick the best times to drive.  Good chance most customers will tip.  High chance some riders may score you very low and complain to corporate in order to get a free ride.  This is my 2nd favorite pick of the 3 types of gigs.

Uber Eats/GrubHub/Door Dash - Food Delivery

My least favorite option of the 3 types.  Many deliveries are less than $5 and customers will never tip.  Do not waste your time, especially given how saturated the market is now.

Instacart/Spark - Item/grocery Pickup

My recommendation for anyone starting out in the Gig economy that doesn't necessarily want to go the route of Uber and Lyft.  Certain markets may have a longer wait time to get enlisted.  Watch out for the pickups involving multiple cases of water and an upstairs unit to drop off to.  Decent chance most customers will tip compared to food delivery!
