The Best Tech for Your Buck

Chromebooks

I've been using Chromebooks since 2013.  I've used 2 different models from Samsung and I'm currently using a model from HP,

Chromebooks are very basic in their functionality, but the Google software and Operating System is solid, bug free, and fast enough for basic use.

Curb your expectations and you will be satisfied with the value, functionality, and utility of these devices.

If you need a laptop for internet browsing, word doc and excel work, Zoom meetings, basic mobile games like Candy Crush, and using apps on the Google Playstore (same one you'd find on Android phones), then look no further.

The value Chromebooks provide for basic functionality cannot be understated.  Use them as a cheaper Laptop that has a much better battery life while also being lighter, faster, and more accessible than any laptop.

Chromebooks are much harder to get hacked, bugged with viruses/malware, and generally bombarded with bloat to slow everything down.  Keep in mind that many Chromebook models only have 2 years of security software support.  If you treat them like a disposable laptop/cell phone hybrid, then you will definitely get your value from those 2 years of use.

The 2 current models on the market that I'd recommend are the following:

HP: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-15-6-chromebook-laptop-intel-processor-n200-8gb-memory-64gb-emmc-natural-silver/6535992.p?skuId=6535992

Lenovo: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-ideapad-3i-chromebook-15-6-fhd-laptop-intel-celeron-4gb-memory-with-64gb-emmc-storage-artic-grey/6588651.p?skuId=6588651

Cell Phones

As I've mentioned in the Cell Phone section of this site, I highly recommend the 2024 Motorola Edge as the best flagship Android phone that's under $300 when on sale.

You can find the phone here: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/motorola-edge-2024-256gb-unlocked-midnight-blue/6580484.p?skuId=6580484

Do not pay full price for this phone.  Always wait for a sale to get it under $300.

If that phone doesn't go on sale

If the 2024 Edge is not on sale, you can look at the 2023 Edge+ model as well.  It's selling for a large discount of its sticker price but sits at $400 on sale: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/motorola-edge-512gb-2023-unlocked-interstellar-black/6540585.p?skuId=6540585

If neither the Edge or Edge+ work out, then I'd recommend going with the Motorola G Stylus 5G.  You can find it for under $300 and the specs are everything you need from a budget sub-$500 phone.

You can find it here:

Printers

DO NOT buy any modern HP Printer.  Never invest in any monthly ink/paper contract with HP or any other Printing company.

I would recommend looking at this Canon printer: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/canon-pixma-megatank-g3270-wireless-all-in-one-supertank-inkjet-printer-black/6535601.p?skuId=6535601

Air Purifiers

I've used 2 different Levoit Air Purifiers for the last 4 years. I'm current using the Levoit 300 I've not been the most impressed with the results.  I feel it does help a little in relieving dust, but I know there are better units out there for around $100.

Here is a link to the model I'm using: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/levoit-core-300-air-purifier-white/6462880.p?skuId=6462880

My recommendation with getting an Air Purifier would be to get one from Costco.  This way, you can experiment to see if the Purifier makes a different in your home.  If not, you can always return it.

If you are going to get a Levoit, definitely go with a more expensive model than the Core 300.
